The United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Obsolescence Management Department (OMD) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a Project Engineering position. The successful candidate will be part of an organization that spans many of the UTAS product lines, working with cross functional teams whose key objective is to prevent impact to customer deliveries due to an obsolescence issue. The position is high paced, with ever changing priorities that need to be addressed over short durations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Obsolescence Program Manager and Obsolescence Management Team (OMT) leads in coordinating, managing and reporting on all aspects of obsolescence.

  • Interfacing and presenting to internal and external customers will be required.

  • This individual must work well within a team to maintain a cooperative work environment. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with other functional areas, including Program Management, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations.

  • This individual will be responsible for supporting department goals and initiatives and adapt to constantly changing priorities.

  • The individual should be capable of leading obsolescence technical and business discussions between UTAS and its suppliers, as well as with the SBU engineering teams.

  • In addition, the candidate will be required to assist the OMT leads to establish, track, and control budgets for major obsolescence tasks.

  • This role requires strong organizational skills and a commitment to meeting team and customer deadlines.

  • A candidate is being sought who desires to grow and expand to eventually be able to independently lead an OMT.

Qualification: Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering – Project Engineering, Manufacturing engineer, design engineer who has exposure from design phase to manufacturing.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UTAS organization, policy and processes is beneficial

  • Knowledge of MS Project, Tiger, EIS and SAP

  • Aerospace industry experience

Education:

  • BS in a relevant Engineering / Science discipline (Electrical Engineering is preferred). A Masters of Business Administration is a plus.
