UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. ISR & Space Systems is a business unit within UTAS and our products reside in deep space, low earth orbit, undersea and on the ground. We are also a major supplier to international space programs. The ISR & Space Systems business has contributed to significant advances in ground, air, space and imaging technology for over 85 years. Within ISR & Space Systems we design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station, including the space suit, and undersea in submarines.

We are now looking for highly motivated and technically sound Proposal Manager to lead cross-functional teams to develop compliant bid/proposals in response to customer requests for procurement (RFP). Manage multiple proposals in parallel predominately for the International Space Station and Extravehicular Mobility Unit (Space Suit) programs within the Space Systems business unit. Assist in complex proposal development near term with ability to transition to leading complex new business proposals. A desire and aptitude for understanding business strategy and capture efforts is a plus.

Effort involves:

  • Leading multi-functional (and occasionally multi-site) proposal teams

  • Analyzing RFP requirements to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the customer’s issues and needs

  • Preparation of proposal plans

  • Conducting proposal kick-off meetings and progress/status meetings to maintain the proposal schedule

  • Compiling and formatting the proposal document; including writing and editing sections

  • Support preparation of presentations to senior management.

Following submittal of proposal, effort involves coordinating responses to fact-finding questions and supporting negotiations.

The proposal manager also leads the preparation and submittal of white papers, trade studies, Requests for Information (RFIs) and Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) estimates.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong preference for planning and the persistence required to drive projects to completion.

Qualification:

Project management experience strongly desired and is a key to success in this role.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Proficiency in MSOffice Suite.

Ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable facilitating meetings and leading projects

Occasional travel may be required (<5%).

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred but not required.

With 4+ years of experience with the Manufacturing environment.
