United Technologies Aerospace Systems is among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace products. We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space programs. The Propeller Systems Engineering team is comprised of associates in Windsor Locks, CT and Figeac, France who, working closely in an Integrated Product Development environment, design, analysis and manufacture world class propulsion systems for aircraft and air cushion vehicles. The team also provides engineering support to aircraft manufacturers and commercial and military operators to resolve in-service issues and develop component improvements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and analysis of mechanical components for propulsion systems.

  • These will include hydro-mechanical components (actuators, valves, seals) and propeller hubs.

  • Work with Systems Engineering to define propulsion system architecture and system requirements, including supplier designed equipment.

  • Work with suppliers to ensure that supplier defined equipment (such as pumps, motors and servo-valves) meet design specifications.

  • Support component development activities, such as component and system test rigs, by creating test plans and evaluating test results.

  • Work with the drafting organization to create new component drawings and component repair drawings.

  • Work with Materials Engineering to select the materials, coatings and processes required to meet structural and environmental requirements.

  • Work with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to provide disposition of non-conforming hardware.

  • Support the Supply Chain Management organization by evaluating SRI’s (supplier requests for Information)

  • Support the development of Standard Work and the continued integration of the ACE operating system into the Propeller Systems organization.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Strength of Materials and structural analysis is required.

  • Experience with hydro-mechanical systems.

  • Experience with solid modeling and finite element analysis is preferred.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Applicant must be comfortable working in a team environment.

  • Applicant must be able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.

  • Microsoft Office software experience required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree with 5 years plus related experience

  • Master's Degree preferred with 3 plus years related experience
