The UTC Re-Empower Program is a return to work program that helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, improve leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. The program consists of a 16-week comprehensive cohort assignment, which offers a rich and rewarding experience and mentorship for program participants transitioning back into the workforce after a 2+ year career break, for reasons such as childcare, eldercare, career path change, illness, retirement or other personal matters. Selected experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive mentoring to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the 16-week program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role. The Winter 2019 Cohort of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from January 29, 2019 – May 17, 2019. To qualify for the UTC Re-Empower Program, candidates must meet both program and position requirements.

Electrical, Environmental, and Engine Controls (ES) provides complete jet engine controls and accessory packages. From the fuel tank to the igniters, we have the resources and expertise to design, qualify, and manufacture first in class central systems for our aerospace engine customers. ES is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team.

Role Overview:

  • Project Engineer Electrical, Engine Controls for the Pratt & Whitney PurePower family of engines. The candidate will be responsible for working with internal & external customers to ensure timely completion of program milestones.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead an integrated product team(IPT) consisting of design, operations support, quality, software, and reliability engineering to accomplish the following goals:

  • Manage Total Manufacturing Cost (TMC) for product and lead cost reduction initiates on component and/or fuel metering product line.

  • Provide staffing plans through the use of the UTAS Manpower Planning Tool (TIGER), including detailed plans through all disciplines and an outsourcing plan, also by discipline, which meet project milestones and budget.

  • Drive and implement Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) processes, through the use of the applicable ACE tools to ultimately facilitate design integrity improvements and enhanced Engineering Standard Work (ESW) practices.

  • Coordinate the management and closure of all supplier interfacing related activities including fabrication processing issues, Flight Safety Frozen Process Review Board deliverables and dispositions to supplier Quality Notices (QNs) and requests for information (SRIs).

  • Coordinating all UTAS Engineering Change (EC) activities for all drawings & solid models.

  • Drive project execution of technical requirements to budget and schedule through implementation of the Program Management System Standard (PMSS) and the IPD Team process.

  • Drive and implement Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) processes, through the use of the applicable ACE tools to ultimately facilitate design integrity improvements and enhanced Engineering Standard Work (ESW) practices.

  • Coordinate activities with UTAS Supply Chain Management and the UTAS Electronics Operations team to meet Production yield targets.

  • Have an interest in returning to work in a full-time position

  • Have an ability to attend the Re-Empower Program Orientation at UTC Headquarters in Farmington, CT on January 29 – 31.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering

  • 3-10 years of relevant experience in working in Control Systems or Components for Engine Control Systems and/or similar electro-mechanical products.

  • Candidate should have a basic working knowledge of control systems and electronic engine controls

  • Must have the ability to apply electronic principals to analyze hardware, recommend corrective action, conduct engineering investigations and develop/conduct tests.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing process for electronic circuit card assemblies is desired.

  • Good oral and written skills are necessary along with the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Experience in working and leading product development teams, creating project plans, performing risk assessments, and working resource plans necessary for successful program execution

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering required.

  • Masters degree in Engineering or Management desirable.
