PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sr. Power Supply Engineer will work with a global team of engineers to develop state-of-the-art electronic products for military and commercial aviation applications at the Windsor Locks, CT facility. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with significant experience in Power Supply capability, familiarity with Analog design and possess strong analytical skills. Candidates should have a versatile skill set that enables them to design and develop power supplies for avionic electronic controls and have ability to support other design disciplines in the integration, validation and verification of the design. They will be part of an Integrated Product Development (IPD) team and as such should possess the interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to work effectively with other team members.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficient with analog circuit design, analysis, building, and testing circuits in a lab environment

  • Proficiency in the use of electronic circuit simulation such as SPICE or similar modeling tools

  • Experience with high reliability controller electronics and power switching circuitry

  • Hardware Verification experience including, test procedure development, robustness testing and debug

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Good computer skills with ability to learn new programs/software

  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints

  • 6+ years hardware design for DC-DC & AC-DC power supplies (10W – 500W range) with output voltages typically ranging from 1V – 100V preferred

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task amidst rapid change

  • Extensive knowledge of high frequency switching power supply topologies, and control architectures (including Fly-back, Forward, Buck-Boost, etc.) for avionics where small size and weight are key design drivers preferred

  • Specific power conversion design skills include: high frequency magnetic design, power conversion circuit design and analysis, circuit simulation, layout considerations, feedback control theory, and EMC compliance preferred

  • Strong familiarity with avionics power input requirements preferred (Mil-Std-704 & RTCA/DO-160 Section 16)

  • Experience working within DO-254 certification program(s), including Stages of Involvement (SOI) Audits under EASA or FAA

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required with at least 6 years of experience

  • Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience

  • PhD degree with at least 2 years of experience
