Within ISR & Space Systems we design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station, including the space suit, and undersea in submarines. ISR & Space Systems Windsor Locks is looking for energetic and highly motivated candidates for its Design Drafting Analyst Organization. It is essential the individual be capable of adapting to changing conditions and work cooperatively in a team environment.

The Senior Product Design Engineer is responsible for the technical quality of drawings used to manufacture and inspect components and assemblies defining life support equipment for NASA and Navy programs. The detailed position responsibilities are as follows:

-Work within an Integrated Product Development team, select functional drawing and model datum's for inspection of hardware compliant to ASME Y14.5.

-Provide complete tolerance analysis ensuring worst case fit-ups of assembled hardware and that provided Design requirements such as clearances and minimum walls are met.

-Tolerance studies must be formal in nature and easily understood by all.

-Work with Mechanical Design and or be capable of generating complex models within Pro-E CREO 2.0, WINDCHILL 10.1, ensure complete drawing definition including the application of applied geometric tolerance compliant to ASME Y14.5, drawing types and applications per ASME Y14.24, and the application of engineering drawing practices per ASME Y14.100.

-Associate must be capable of working in an Integrated Product Development team environment, specifically working with Design, Manufacturing and Quality.

-Associate must be very familiar with manufacturing and inspection principles with respect to machined parts, welded parts, brazed parts, castings and printed wiring boards.

-Familiar with Model Based Definition MBD practices and Reduced Dimension Drawings RDD will be a valuable asset.

-Ability to articulate and defend engineering decisions as well as communicate clearly with cross functional teams.

-High motivation to teach, learn, and contribute to both product and process development within the R&D team.

Qualification:

  • -Strong communication skills (written, verbal and visual) and ability to influence others.

  • -Efficient in Pro-E CREO 2.0 and WINDCHILL 10 environment, able to work within a fast pass IPT environment on multiple projects at once.

  • -Experience with Engineering Change processes as well as new product development.

  • -Familiar with Product Lifecycle Management, PLM on large programs.

  • -Ability to produce tolerance analysis on complex assemblies, 3 Dimensional Models and complete drawing packages with little supervision.

  • -Must be US Person.

  • -This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation SUBPART 1835.5 Drug-Free Workforce

Education:

  • -Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, combination of experience and education will be considered

  • -10+ years’ direct industry experience desired.
