This position is for a Seasoned professional contributor in Supply Chain Management. May manage small projects for supply chain management. Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with major impact on Supply Chain strategies and operational goals. Responsible for making moderate improvements to supply chain management processes and systems. Works to influence other functions/vendors to support Supply Chain strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports senior managements across Supply Chain disciplines to identify gaps in processes and implementations; Conducts root cause analysis and identifies strategies to bridge the gaps.

  • Supports implementation of identified processes and monitors to closure.

  • Supports identification of opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.

  • Gathers information on new vendors, sources, market, current processes and prices and seeks approval from seniors.

  • Resolves escalated issues with vendors and Supply Chain management.

  • Adheres to import, export, and excise regulation as per compliance.

  • May manage Supply Chain processes.

  • Manages major responsibilities across multiple supply chain disciplines on a regular basis.

  • Performs supply chain activities that cannot be attributed to a defined discipline.

  • May also include professional employees required to perform activities across several disciplines on smaller sites.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a dynamic and effective leader in the areas of cost reduction and overall cost management. As the supply chain cost manager for the Air Management Systems business unit located in Windsor Locks, CT, the candidate will be responsible for the full cost management value chain of a $300M annual spend portfolio across 6 different commodities and over 300 suppliers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to management of the following elements:

  • Cost reduction projects

  • All drivers of headwind and tailwind resulting from

  • Long term agreements

  • Engineering design changes

  • Purchase order placement

  • Special charges

To achieve this, the cost manger will have the exciting opportunity to leverage unprecedented growing programs / markets and drive creative cost management / reduction solutions for the business. Some activities include:

  • Identify new cost reduction opportunities to support yearly business financial goals.

  • Support or lead value engineering events through a cross functional team that will result in cost reduction activities.

  • Support development of tools for financial and project reporting systems.

  • Maintain scorecards of critical cost reduction metrics for the business unit/major program

  • Work with commodity leaders to develop long term agreement plans that will result in year over year savings and increase LTA coverage.

  • Support program passports as required to meet business goals.

  • Develop business cases for transition projects (supplier A to supplier B transitions)

  • Assess and address global logistics costs including import/export requirements and how costs impact the bottom line.

Education / Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline.

A master’s degree is desirable

Experience/Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Aftermarket and/or Supply Chain disciplines with increasing responsibility.

  • Knowledge of aviation electronics a plus

  • Project/Program Management Experience

  • Proven leadership and communication skills across disciplines

  • Cost sensitivity and business judgment with proven bottom line results

  • Able to lead in a collaborative team environment

Other Desirable Experiences/Skills:

  • Detail / Financially Oriented

  • Process design and governance (standard work)

  • Effective problem solving skills

  • Results oriented and deliver on customer commitments.

  • Integrator across multiple teams, business segments, and sites

  • Leadership ability to conduct Lean, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement events

  • Technical Aptitude

This is considered a highly visible role which will require the candidate to consistently interface with senior leadership, and present business progress.

Due to ITAR controlled work, candidate must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident.

This position is located in Windsor Locks, CT with <20% expected travel requirements
