This position is for an experienced Systems Engineer. ES is looking for an energetic and detail oriented systems engineer ready to lead control system design and validation activities. The successful candidate will participate on a team to evaluate customer level requirements for Jet Engines and validate by analysis that the performance criteria is being met. The candidate should have skills and experience in the four major disciplines of systems engineering, systems architecture development; modeling; requirements development and management; and verification and validation. The position requires frequent communication with the engine manufacturers to integrate the control system interfaces and performance.
Perform systems requirements definition, functional decomposition, and requirements management within the context of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
Review, define, and analyze system requirements using DOORS
Design and modeling of complex systems through the use of Dymola/Modelica or similar tools
Define technical objectives for Design Verification & Validation and provide requirements for test and rig development
Support Development Testing, Verification & lifecycle documentation
Troubleshoot and support testing, including data analysis and report generation
Perform aircraft and fuel system troubleshooting with operators after entry into service
Resolve root cause analysis and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into current process
Ability to work in a team environment supporting internal and external customers, and suppliers
Clearly and concisely communicate complex technical information in presentations and reports
Participate in internal and external product design engineering teams and reviews
Lead process improvements aligned to increase effectiveness of our modeling processes
Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Full life cycle experience as a systems engineer is required: systems architecture/ requirements development/ modeling and simulation/ verification and validation.
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
Experience with DOORs or equivalent Requirements Management Tool
Must have the ability to apply mechanical/ hydro mechanical principals to analyze hardware, recommend corrective action, conduct engineering investigations and develop/conduct tests.
Good oral and written skills, coupled with a strong grasp of all Microsoft Office products are necessary, along with the ability to work in a team environment.
The successful candidate will possess a positive "can do" attitude, good presentation skills, respect for others, confidence, and patience.
Must be a US Citizen
3-5 years of relevant experience in working with Hydraulic Actuation Systems, Fuel Controls and/or similar mechanical products
Strong Mathematical and Fluid mechanics/Dynamics skills preferred.
Model Based Design and/or Model Based Systems Engineering processes
Ability to travel when required
Willingness to work nonstandard hours as needed during test support
A Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution, a Master's degree is highly desirable but not required
