Description:

Mechanical Systems is a global leader in actuation design and manufacturing for commercial and military aircraft with products ranging from single actuators to complete flight control systems, for the fixed wing, rotorcraft and missile segments as well as fly-by-wire cockpit controls cabin equipment, trimmable horizontal stabilizer actuators and flight safety parts for helicopters.

This role is responsible for the following:

  • Leading the customs program across the Mechanical Systems' facilities located throughout the EMEA region, including managing Collins Aerospace and other strategic customs related initiatives, verifying and reporting of critical ITC customs metrics, driving continuous improvement efforts across the organization, and collaborating with the central Mechanical Systems International Trade Compliance team to achieve a fully aligned organization.

  • Manage team of individuals responsible for EMEA customs obligations.

  • Lead teams responsible for compliance with all customs related requirements associated with Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programmes, where applicable.

  • Leading critical customs programme initiatives, particularly in the area of duty mitigation and obtaining AEO status at sites not currently authorised.

  • Identifying opportunities to develop current duty mitigation programmes.

  • Harmonizing customs processes across the EMEA region, e.g. standardising key elements, such as valuation, country-of-origin determinations, classification and broker management.

  • Leading the EMEA Mechanical Customs teams to ensure timely collation, verification and reporting of critical customs metrics for monthly and quarterly reports.

  • Working with the Central ITC EMEA Customs Senior Manager in respect of communications with local Customs authorities, including responding to formal government inquiries.

  • Actively participate in Collins Aerospace Duty Mitigation Council.

  • Talent development and succession planning.

  • Identify compliance gaps, lead investigations and identify and support implementation of required corrective actions where appropriate.Support and advise during inquiries and investigations of customs activities for Mechanical Systems EMEA business locations, including remediation activities and corrective action implementation.

  • Actively participate on future IT developments ensuring customs requirements are appropriately addressed

Requirements:

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will:

  • be qualified to Degree or Advanced degree level or have equivalent relevant experience with additional study in International Trade preferred.

  • be proficient in Multiple languages.

  • have experience working in international trade compliance (prior experience working at a publically traded company is preferred)

  • have a proven track record for enhancing customs compliance programs.

  • have a thorough understanding of EU Community Customs Directives and Requirements and UK customs policies. World Customs Organization knowledge a plus. Knowledge of IncoTerms®2010 and Logistics practices.

  • be a self-starter with strong organizational, planning and follow-through capabilities with a client focus working effectively in a time-sensitive environment

Essential requirements:

  • Must have experience in a highly matrixed organization and the ability to brief senior management on complex legal issues and project milestones.

  • Must be able to set vision and execute projects from beginning to end while managing multiple priorities, locations and time zones.

  • Must be a good communicator and be able to effectively manage others through dotted line reporting, across corporate and legal entities.
